If I were a flower, I would be an air plant,
like an orchid with roots dangling,
growing the most exotic blossoms
without soil to anchor into…
How my love began…
My love for art, design and architecture was born out of a life that started with a continual uprooting, moving from one place to the next. Although it may seem unsettling, it was an unparalleled experience that opened my heart and mind to different ways of being.
From the paper parasols of Okinawa and the kimonos of Japan, to the grass hula skirts of Hawaii and the silk garments of India, these diverse cultures became woven into the tapestry of my soul.
01
the younger years
I was born in Stockholm, Sweden and at the age of two, we moved to India, living in both New Delhi and Calcutta. At five, we moved to Frankfurt, Germany and by now I had been exposed to 4 languages. We left Europe and moved to America where I started school, continuing to Okinawa, Japan and Hawaii, before returning to the States.
I graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Textiles and I worked my way through school by apprenticing with 2 clothing designers. I sewed the beautiful hand painted silk garments that were sold in “Art to Wear'' shops and local clothing stores. While I was designing shoes for Brittanica, I was discovered by the owner of the surf wear company, Ocean Pacific Sunwear. We were working on new flip flop designs and I ended up becoming their accessory designer.
02
early design years
Five years later, I moved to Arizona and began working for a famous ballroom gown designer. I went on to make costumes for the Ice Capades and I became a master pattern maker. The artistry of fabric, clothing and costume design filled my thoughts these ten years in the fashion industry.
My shift into Interior Design came when the Ice Capades filed Chapter 11 and moved their facility to Las Vegas. Hoping to still use my textile background, I began working with a family-owned design firm that specialized in window treatments and accessories.
03
the big leap
It was November 1997 when I moved to southwest Florida. I found a fit with an interior design firm in Cape Coral that worked with builders, doing the color selections. They provided flooring, window treatments and wall coverings and my experience with interior design grew.
I eventually formed a partnership with a local builder and helped them open a design division. I created award-winning models and custom homes and became an acclaimed interior designer for the high end residential market. After 25 years in SW Florida, I can say I have found a foot hold.
04
awakening
While I treasure the tactile and visual world of aesthetics, I also know another world, unknown by our physical senses, that is made up of energy. Just beyond thought, and a little further than our vision, lies the beautiful complex matrix of life.
It is here where we harness the power of our imagination through daydreaming, creative visualization, and meditation. Through the use of energetic technologies, we can interact with this responsive dimension to create an harmonious place to live that is “out of this world”.
Look to where you dwell, for if you are in the past or the future, you are not here. And if you are here, I hope it is an amazing place to be.
Somewhere, deep in my soul, I have always been searching for that feeling of ‘belonging’, that place we call home.
Should you be looking for interior design services to enrich your home or energetic technologies to uplift your space, I welcome the chance to help you improve the world you live in.
